"This is none other than the house of God
and this is the gate of heaven."
Genesis 28:17

Saint Ann Catholic Church

You're Invited to Alpha at Saint Ann's!

Registration has been closed for the Fall 2023 Alpha at the Parish of Saint Ann. We hope to see you at our next season of Alpha!

What is Alpha?

Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the basics of the Christian faith. Typically run over eleven weeks, each session looks at a different question around faith, and the talks are designed to create conversation in small groups afterwards. It's totally free, it's run all over the globe, and everyone's welcome.

What does it look like?

Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. Alpha is run all around the globe and everyone is welcome. It runs online, in cafés, churches, universities, homes—you name it! No two Alphas look the same, but they generally have three key things in common: hospitality, a talk and good conversation.

Connecting with others is important; friends gathered around the kitchen table, meeting for coffee or catching up online. It's no different at Alpha. All sessions start with a time to connect, relax and build friendships - whether in person or virtually.

The Alpha talks are designed to engage and inspire conversation. Each one is around thirty minutes long and given by a speaker live or played as a video. They explore important issues around faith and unpack the basics of Christianity, addressing questions from Who is Jesus? and How can we have faith? to Why and how do I pray? and How does God guide us?

One of the most important parts of any Alpha is the chance to share thoughts and ideas in small groups. There's no obligation to say anything and there's nothing you can't share (seriously). It's an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly, and open environment.

Lauren's Story

"Before Alpha, I called myself a Christian, I told other people I was Christian. But I didn't understand what it meant to be a Christian. It showed me that it's okay not to just go along with what everyone else is doing."

Richard's Story

"Alpha ended up being the place where I could just be me and it was just a place where I could air out all my questions and all my dirty laundry and nobody looked at me any differently."
